Answer: BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM are all correct. Students may also reply OFDM, OFDMA, TDM, TDMA although these are transmission and access techniques and not modulation techniques. However, most texts refer to OFDM and OFDMA as modulations.

WLAN Applications-กำลังได้รับความนิยมเพิ่มมากขึ้น เนื่องจากการติดตั้งสายเคเบิ้ลไม่สะดวกและมีราคาแพง จึงนำ Wireless NT มาแก้ปัญหานี้ นอกจากนั้น Wireless NT ช่วยให้ผู้ใช้หลายคนสามารถเชื่อมต่อกันได้ในวงอินเตอร์เน็ตเดียวกัน, เกตเวย์ ประกอบด้วย เครื่องที่หมายรวมถึง เร้าเตอร์ อีเธอร์เน็ต สวิตซ์ และไวร์เลสแอคเซสพอยนต์

11.1 Dynamic rate selection : AP สามารถปรับเรทการส่งดาต้าให้มีค่าสูงสุดโดยอัตโนมัติ ขึ้นอยู่กับความแรงและคุณภาพของสัญญาณ
11.2 สามารถสนับสนุนผู้ใช้ได้มากกว่า 100 เครื่อง
11.3 Power over Ethernet (PoE) : DC Power ถูกส่งไปที่ AP ผ่านสายที่ไม่ได้ใช้ด้วยมาตรฐานเคเบิ้ล UTP Ethernet

โดย Wireless clients สื่อสารโดยตรงด้วยกันเองโดยไม่ผ่าน AP ทำให้มีความรวดเร็วและติดตั้งเครื่องไร้สายได้ง่ายขึ้น

ข้อเสียคือ wireless clients สามารถสื่อสารด้วยกันเองได้เท่านั้น

รู้จักกันในชื่อ Basic Service Set (BSS) ประกอบด้วย wireless clients และ AP
-Extended Service Set (ESS)คือ BSS ตั้งแต่ 2 ตัวขึ้นไปอยู่ในเครือข่ายเดียวกัน ช่วยให้ผู้ใช้สามารถเคลื่อนที่ได้โดยที่เครือข่ายไม่หลุด
-wireless clients และ AP ทั้งหมด ต้องอยู่ในเครือข่ายเดียวกัน เพื่อให้ผู้ใช้ใช้ได้ต่อเนื่องโดยสัญญาณไม่หลุด

- การเปลี่ยนแปลงของ 802.11b จำกัดอยู่ในชั้น MAC Layer
- บน WLAN เครื่องทั้งหมดแชร RF Spectrum เดียวกัน

- Channel access methods สามารถป้องกัน collisions ได้ โดยใช้ CSMA/CA

Association เริ่มด้วย client สแกนคลื่นในอากาศ ที่มีประเภทการสแกนดังนี้
a)Passive Scanning
client คอยฟังว่าแต่ละช่องเพื่อตั้งช่วงเวลา ฟังสำหรับเฟรมบีคอนถูกส่งจากทุก AP ตัวเฟรมเองประกอบด้วย SSID ของ AP
b)Active Scanning
client ส่งเฟรมเพื่อสอบถามแต่ละ channel แล้วรอ response frame

-Association request frame ประกอบด้วยความจุและอัตราที่ client นั้นรับได้
-Association response frame ส่งโดย AP, บรรจุ status code และเลข client ID สำหรับ client นั้นๆ

Reassociation
-client อาจดร็อปการเชื่อมต่อกับ AP หนึ่งแล้วสถาปนาการเชื่อมต่อกับ connection อื่นๆ
-จำเป็นเมื่อผู้ใช้เคลื่อนที่ไปครอบคลุมพื้นที่หนึ่ง AP
-client ส่ง Reassociation request frame แก่ AP ใหม่
-AP ส่ง Reassociation response frame กลับ
-AP ใหม่ส่ง Disassociation frame แก่ AP เก่า

หลังจากรับ ACK เริ่มการส่งโดยรอ backoff interval สุ่ม
-ถ้าการส่งครั้งนั้นไม่ได้รับ ACK ภายใน SIFS จะยอมให้ควบคุมสื่อ และถ้าเฟรม ack ถูก เครื่องที่ส่งต้องฟังขณะรอ backoff interval

สรุป
เทคโนโลยีไร้สายที่น่าสนใจในทุกวันนี้ คือ RF WLANs
-Wireless NIC ทำหน้าที่เหมือนกับ wired NIC
-ส่วนต่างๆ ของ AP คือ Antenna , Radio Tranceiver, RJ-45 wired network interface
-การส่งผ่านข้อมูลใน RF WLAN มีทั้งแบบ Ad hoc และ Infrastructure mode
-มาตรฐาน IEEE 802.11 กำหนดให้เครื่อข่าย LAN ส่งข้อมูลแบบไร้สายเคเบิ้ล
-มาตรฐาน 802.11 ใช้วิธีเข้าถึงด้วย DCF เจาะจงด้วยวิธี CSMA/CA
-มาตรฐาน 802.11 หา polling เรียก PCF
